Sofi is seven-years-old, but she's never experienced a childhood. She was born in one of the poorest slums of Kolkata - and, because her birth was never registered, she has no right to schooling or medical care. To help her family buy a little food, she spends her days sifting through mounds of rubbish for rags to sell. Almost every week the police evict her family, beating them and breaking their few possessions.
But it doesn't have to be this way.

Water: Many children become ill because clean water is simply unavailable. Your sponsorship can help build wells and water supply systems to improve the health of the whole community.
Food: Communities often lack the resources or skills essential to generate adequate supplies of food. Child sponsorship can enable communities to find solutions to prevent food shortages, so children will be well-nourished and kept from going hungry.
Healthcare: Adequate healthcare is often inaccessible to many communities. You can help children receive the essential health services needed to live a happy, healthier life.
