Sponsor a Hearing Dog - Hearing Dogs for Deaf People

You can help meet the demand for hearing dogs by supporting the training of young rescue dogs like Saffron. Becoming a Hearing Dog Friend means you will be helping us to change the lives of deaf people all over the UK.

Nearly nine million of the UK population experience some degree of hearing loss. That's one person in every seven. Over 650,000 of these people are severely or profoundly deaf and could benefit from a hearing dog.

Hearing dogs change lives. They alert their deaf owners to sounds we take for granted, providing greater independence, confidence and security. Most are selected from rescue centres or donated as unwanted pets. To date, more than 1400 hearing dogs have been trained and placed to work with deaf people since the charity began in 1982.

Profoundly deaf Roy Rood explains how hearing dog Tilly has transformed his life:

Since having Tilly my life has turned around. Not only is she my constant companion, but my ears and my life. She has given me the confidence to go out, and I cannot imagine life without Tilly: it would be like a life without love.

We rely totally on the generosity of individuals and organisations to continue transforming the lives of deaf people and unwanted puppies.
